Abstract:

To provide a method for making a gene recombinant plant, by which the objective transgenetic tissue can be selected in improved selecting efficiency without using an agent for lowering the activity of plant cells, and to provide a vector used for the method.

This method for making a gene recombinant plant comprises transducing into a plant cell a vector which contains the objective gene and the gene of an enzyme for synthesizing auxin from an auxin precursor as a selecting marker gene and is used for transducing the genes into the plant, culturing the transduced plant cell in the presence of the auxin precursor and/or its analogous substance to produce the redifferentiated tissue, and then selecting the redifferentiated tissue to regenerate the plant body. The gene of the enzyme for synthesizing the auxin from the auxin precursor includes iaaH (indoleacetamide hydrolase) gene, and the auxin precursor includes indole acetamide and naphthalene acetamide.
