PURPOSE: To produce a stainless steel in an excellent Cr yield and in a low cost by adding a molten iron into a molten high Cr2O3 slag produced at the time of refining a molten high carbon high chromium iron into a stainless steel by an oxygen blowing and reducing/recovering Cr2O2 into the molten iron.
CONSTITUTION: In the molten slag produced in the case of refining the low carbon stainless steel with the decarburizing reaction by oxygen-blowing in a converter, as the composition of 6-50% Cr2O2 by oxidizing Cr,1.5-3.5 CaO/SiO2 and <15% MgO are contained, this molten slag 1 is shifted into the converter 3 and the molten iron 2 subjected mainly to dephosphorization, desulfurization and desiliconization are charged. The Cr2O3 in the molten slag 1 is reduced into Cr with C in the molten iron and recovered into the molten iron 2, and the molten slag 4 incorporating no Cr2O3 is removed. Successively, Fe-Cr is added into the molten iron incorporating Cr to make the high Cr content and after making high carbon stainless steel raw material having >1% C, by oxygen-refining with a lance, the decarburize-refining is executed to produce the law carbon stainless steel and the produced molten high Cr2O3 slag is realized as the Cr source in the following heat.
