Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate line crawl due to nonuniformity of a photosensing characteristic of light receiving pixels provided to a color image pickup device.
SOLUTION: A pixel signal S outputted from a color image pickup device 2 is converted into pixel data P by a sample-and-hold circuit 4 and an A/D converter 6 and the data are stored in an image memory 8. An arithmetic section 12 multiplies a line crawl correction factor LC stored in a nonvolatile memory 10 with luminance data generated based on the pixel data P to generate luminance data V substantially equivalent to data obtained when the photosensing characteristic of the light receiving pixels is uniform and the result is outputted. The line crawl correction factor LC is decided in advance and the light receiving pixels whose photosensing characteristic is nearly equal are grouped (classified) and arithmetic mean of signals of the grouped light receiving pixels is obtained and a ratio of the arithmetic mean is used for the line crawl correction factor.
