SOLUTION: At the time of operating a sharpness emphasis processing to an output picture signal Sin of a picture inputting device by a picture processor 14, a chart for detecting a sharpness parameter in which an amplitude value with plural spatial frequencies for detecting MTF characteristics includes a known since wave chart is read by the picture inputting device. The MTF characteristics calculated from this read result are compared with reference MTF characteristics in the picture processor 14, and a parameter for processing sharpness emphasis optimal to the picture inputting device is decided, and the decided parameter is set in a blur mask weighting factor storing part 38 or the like. Thus, a desired sharpness processing corresponding to the picture inputting device can be attained.
