Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance the dispersing qualities of fibers by a method wherein fibers, which are prepared by fibrillating vegetable stock, are passed between a pair of rolls, which have a large number of teeth and rotate to the same direction.
CONSTITUTION: A large number of teeth 5 are formed or a pair of rolls 1 and 2, which are engaged with each other and rotated to the same direction. Further, the peripheral speed of the rolls 1 is controlled to be faster than that of the roll 2. Accordingly, at the point, at which teeth 5 engage with each other, the teeth 5 are rotated to the directions opposite to each other, the fibers passing between both the rolls 1 and 2 are untwisted so as to remove entwinement in order to enhance the dispersion properties in other stock. In this case, by keeping the water content of vegetable fiber above 10%, the pulverization of the fiber is prevented from developing.
