To provide a method for cold rolling a metallic sheet while assuring the lubricity equal to that of a coolant of an emulsion type by using a coolant of a solution type.
The solution having a cloudy point by dissolving a water-soluble lubricant is used as the coolant and the coolant is supplied into a roll bite at a liquid temperature above the cloudy point in at least a part of rolling stands or rolling passes. The coolant S1 (60°C) supplied to the roll bite at the liquid temperature equal to or above the cloudy point has greatly improved adhesiveness of the lubricating component to the metallic plate as compared to the case S1 (15°C) of the liquid temperature below the cloudy point and the lubricity equivalent to that of the coolant E1 of the emulsion type can be obtained.
