Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve an imaging resolvability by dynamically steering the received ultrasonic signals during reception and converging them, and providing an imaginary top point at the back of transducer array used for supplying a broader visual field in a nearer visual field. CONSTITUTION: A transducer array 10 which can transmit ultrasonic energy pulses by a transmitting mode and can receive reflected ultrasonic energy pulses by a receiving mode is provided. The transducer array 10 is controlled to select angles and focus point, to transmit pulses steering to a determined direction by a transmit control circuit containing a transmit processor 108, a multi- accumulator circuit 114, a transmit mixer control circuit 118 and a high voltage transmit driver 124. This array 10 is also controlled to change the receiving steering angle and the focus point during reception of the ultrasonic signals and to converge the received ultrasonic signals along an imaginary scanning line by a receiving converging circuit containing a mixer phase processor 110, a tap selecting processor 112 and a tap selector 154.
