PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture an optical module by constituting a gripping equipment so that the optical module can be gripped while sealing an optical port.
CONSTITUTION: A hole 21a having an inner diameter and depth allowing an optical port 13 of an optical module 1 to be inserted, and an O- ring 21b mounted around the hole 21a are provided at the top end of a handle 21. First, while a back end 22a of a slider 22 is sufficiently pushed, the optical port 13 of the optical module 1 is inserted into the hole 21a of the handle 21, and the slider 22 is opened. At that time, a package 12 of the optical module 1 is interposed between the top end face of the handle 21 and the support part of the slider 22, so that the optical module 1 can be operated through the handle 21 since then. Then, the optical port 13 of the optical module 1 is housed in the hole 21a of the handle 21, and the end face of the package 12 of the optical module 1 and the end face of the handle 21 are airtightly sealed by the O- ring 21b.
