To provide a manufacturing method and equipment by which, in a moving hearth which moves in a horizontal direction for manufacturing pig iron in a blast furnace, reducing-material-containing agglomerates can be reduced partially with rapidity and partially reduced iron suitable as a raw material to be charged into a blast furnace such as a shaft furnace can be manufactured.
The reducing-material-containing agglomerates 6 and metal-ceramic balls 8 are fed in a mixed state onto the moving hearth 1 to form a mixture layer 2. Combustion exhaust gas 16a of 1,000 to 1,300°C formed in a combustion device 15a is passed through the mixture layer to partially reduce the reducing-material-containing agglomerates. Then the mixture layer is charged into a cooling tower 14 to cool the partially reduced iron and the metal-ceramic balls, and the partially reduced iron and the metal-ceramic balls are separately discharged from the bottom of the cooling tower.
