Abstract:
PURPOSE: To generate a block of component image coefficients which has a shape suitable for quantization, motion evaluation, and encoding. CONSTITUTION: Each vector in the horizontal direction of an image data block stored in a first memory 2 is deformed to two vectors consisting of words, the number of which is a half of that of the vector in the horizontal direction, by an analyzer 6 connected between two memory arrays 2 and 4 each of which has a capacity to store N×M image data blocks, and interleaved data (orthogonal representation of the vector in the horizontal direction) are written in a row of the second memory 4. Thereafter, each vector in the vertical direction of an image data block stored in the second memory 4 is converted to two vectors consisting of words, the number of which is a half of that of the vector in the horizontal direction, by the analyzer 6, and interleaved data is written in a column of the first memory 2. A set of interleaved component images are stored after this operation is repeated plural times.
