Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly support ABR service without being accompanied with the actual survey of traffic by evaluating a free zone including dispersion on the basis of only a user report value.
SOLUTION: At the time of a call setting request, a call control part 1 informs the free zone estimation processing part 2 of PCR, SCR and BT a user reports. First of all, the free zone estimation processing part 2 calculates a mean activity ratio due to the user of a priority class. Next, it calculates a measuring time interval from the zone activity ratio of an ABR user and call buffer free capacity. After that, it determines the variance of the zone activity ratio due to each user of the priority class depending upon the said time interval. Then, it determines the variance of the zone activity ratio due to all the users of the priority class, and calculates probability to go to buffer overflow from the congestion detection of ABR, and returns it to the call control part 1.
