To provide a method for estimating a degree of contamination of a separating membrane which is useful for predicting a rise of the pressure difference between membranes of the separating membrane in a separating membrane/activated sludge device.
The method is provided with a process of preparing a model filter (1) having a separating membrane (4)with a membrane area smaller than that of the separating membrane used in the separating membrane/activated sludge device, a process of collecting a supernatant liquid of the sludge to be separated in the separating membrane/activated sludge device, a process of filtering the collected supernatant liquid at the flow rate larger than that of the separating membrane/activated sludge device using the model filter (1), a process of measuring the first flow rate of the model filter (1) at the start of filtering the supernatant liquid, a process of measuring the second flow rate of the model filter at a predetermined time after the start of filtering the supernatant liquid, and a process of estimating the degree of contamination of the separating membrane used for the separating membrane/activated sludge device from the first flow rate and the second flow rate.
