To provide a method of estimating, in a short time with satisfactory precision, the values of physical properties, in particular, Young's modulus and thermal conductivity, of a ceramic layer of a heat-insulating coating material formed on a high-temperature member.
The method of estimating the values of physical properties of a ceramic includes steps of: calculating the Larson-Miller parameter of the ceramic from the heating time of ceramic and the heating temperatures; obtaining porosity of ceramic corresponding to the calculated Larson-Miller parameter from the calculated Larson-Miller parameter and from a correlation diagram of the Larson-Miller parameter and porosity obtained from a sample having the same composition as the ceramic; and obtaining physical property values of the ceramic corresponding to the porosity obtained from the porosity obtained and from a correlation diagram of the porosity and physical property values obtained from the sample having the same composition as the ceramic.
