Abstract:
To easily estimate the remaining life of a precipitation strengthened alloy used in an actual machine under an environment where a change of precipitated phase is small.SOLUTION: A method for estimating the remaining life of a precipitation strengthened alloy involves: creating a first curve that indicates a relationship between the hardness HA and the average particle distance d of a first test piece; creating a second curve that indicates a relationship between the ratio εc/εr and the ratio tc/tr of a second test piece; creating a third curve that indicates a relationship between the ratio εc/εr of a third test piece and a difference ΔHc in hardness of stress loaded and stress non-loaded portions; calculating the hardness HA corresponding to the measured value d of the average particle distance d on the basis of the first curve; subtracting the measured value HA of hardness HA from the calculated hardness HA and thereby estimating the difference ΔHc of the material used in an actual machine; estimating the ratio εc/εr corresponding to the difference ΔHc estimated on the basis of the third curve and estimating the ratio tc/tr corresponding to the ratio εc/εr estimated from the third curve on the basis of the second curve; and estimating the remaining life of the material used in the actual machine on the basis of the estimated ratio tc/tr.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
