Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate, with high accuracy, a wear amount of a timing chain of an engine.SOLUTION: A method of estimating a wear amount of a timing chain comprises: acquiring an engine speed; acquiring torque generated by an engine; calculating suction pressure which is generated between a pin and a pin hole by the relative movement of the pin and the pin hole at the running of the timing chain on the basis of the engine speed and the torque generated by the engine; calculating a suction amount of lubricating oil which is sucked between the pin and the pin hole of the timing chain on the basis of a pressure difference between the calculated suction pressure and atmospheric pressure; and estimating the wear amount of the timing chain using the calculated suction amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
