Abstract:
To provide a new method with which a 4-halogeno-2- nitroalkoxybenzene useful as an intermediate in organic syntheses is simply produced in a high yield.
The method for producing the 4-halogeno-2-nitroalkoxybenzene represented by general formula (2) (R is an alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group; X is a halogen atom) comprises reacting a 4-halogeno-2-nitrophenol represented by general formula (1) with an alkylating agent in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst in an organic solvent or a two-layer system solvent of a nonaqueous organic solvent and water in the presence of an alkali.
