Title:
METHOD FOR EVALUATING SEALING PERFORMANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3408708
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the sealing performance under wide conditions by an arrangement wherein a measuring means itself measures the contact face pressure accurately without causing any factor of disturbance.
SOLUTION: Thin contact elements 3a, 3b and 3c modeling a sealing material are set at a plurality of points between contact faces 1a, 2a and between the inside and outside of a member. A stress acting in the normal direction to the contact face is then calculated as a contact face pressure acting on the contact element through contact analysis by finite element method. At a position where the product of a gasket coefficient indicative of the sealing characteristics of the sealing material and the fluid pressure exceeds the contact face pressure, the contact element located on the innermost side is eliminated and contact analysis is repeated by finite element method under conditions for loading a fluid pressure to a region corresponding the eliminated contact element and the sealing performance is evaluated using the number of contact elements remaining on the contact face as a measure.
