To provide a method and a device to evaluate a rubbing cloth to be used for the rubbing treatment of a liquid crystal display device whether the cloth in a size applicable for the production can or cannot be used for the production, to provide a method and a device to correct the cloth, and thereby to improve the image quality and productivity of a liquid crystal display device.
The rubbing cloth, cut out into a state for the production, is mounted on a vibrating means, and the rubbing cloth is directly and quantitatively evaluated from the moving speed and the speed dispersion of a thin disk disposed on the vibrated rubbing cloth. The rubbing cloth, which is cut out into a state for production but is evaluated as being improper for the production is corrected into an applicable state for the production by apply a prescribed pressure determined from the moving speed and speed dispersion of the thin disk during evaluation.
