Abstract:
To provide a method of effectively extinguishing a pool fire by water mist.
In the method of extinguishing a pool fire with water mist, the water mist is released from a plurality of places over a combustion surface toward the center axis of the flames above the base of the fire, thereby generating a downward flow of the water mist. The downward flow of the water mist becomes water vapor inside the flames, with the vapor increasing the pressure inside the flames. As a result, oxygen flow into the base of the fire is suppressed, leading to extinction of the fire.
