To provide a method for extracting plasmalogen-containing lipid by using only a solvent usable even in the food and drink field.
Lyophilized waste of marine invertebrata and its visceral organs, as well as waste of fishery products and their visceral organs are processed and crushed, and added with a mixed solvent of ethanol/water (10 vol.% or less water) and stirred to recover filtrate. The extraction temperature is preferably 45-60C. Repeating this extraction operation, yield of plasmalogen-containing lipid can be increased. Successively, water by 1-4 times volume is added to the recovered filtrate and the mixture is stirred, and left still or centrifuged, so that the precipitated plasmalogen-containing lipid is recovered. Then the recovered plasmalogen-containing lipid is fractionated by a normal-phase column chromatography. The developing liquid is preferably a mixed solvent of ethanol/water (3-10 vol.% water). Through conducting the whole processes, about 30% purity plasmalogen-containing lipid is obtained.
