Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for extracting polysaccharides in which the light-colored polysaccharides can be extracted at a low cost.
CONSTITUTION: This method for extracting polysaccharides is to add a water- miscible organic solvent to a wet algal body, destroy the cell thereof, remove a fat-soluble component in the cell and subsequently perform enzymic reaction in a method for destroying the cell of the wet algal body separated from a cultured solution of an alga, then carrying out the enzymic reaction and extracting the polysaccharides. Since fat-soluble pigments such as chlorophyll can previously be removed, the extracted polysaccharides are prevented from coloring with the pigments and the polysaccharides having high merchandise value can be obtained. Since a small amount of the solvent used for washing, etc., is sufficiently used, cost can be reduced.
