Title:
METHOD OF FABRICATING ALLOYS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS51115242
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1476099 Producing alloys via electrodeposition INCO EUROPE Ltd 1 March 1976 [5 March 1975] 9147/75 Heading C7B An alloy is formed by electro-depositing Ni, Co and/or Fe with or without Mo, W and/or Ti together with water-stable particles embodying a chemically combined alloying metal capable of being released, followed by releasing the alloying metal into the matrix of the metal electro-deposit. Particles of a carbide, nitride, boride or hydride of Cr, Mo, W or Ti may be used. Non-reactive particles, e.g. a dispersion hardening agent, and/or metal or metal coated particles may also be codeposited. Reaction to release the metal may involve heating at up to 1400‹C for at least 24 hours in air or a reducing or inert atmosphere. Conventional Watts or sulphamate baths are referred to. In examples carbide particles are embedded in a Ni or NiCo coating. The product coating may be stripped from its substrate before alloying.
