PURPOSE: To provide a method for feeding seedlings such as a sweet potato to a seedling inserting machine so as to enable the automatic and continuous feeding of the seedling to the seedling inserting machine.
CONSTITUTION: This method for feeding seedlings to a seedling inserting machine is to (1) hold the basal parts of the seedlings at a prescribed interval with a rope 4, a tape, etc., feed the seedlings in a hung state so as to keep the growth points down and cut the seedlings 3, rope 4, tape, etc., in the seedling inserting machine or release the holding of the seedlings 3 and insert the seedlings. Alternative method is to (2) continuously hold the basal parts of the seedlings 3 with the rope 4, tape, etc., at a prescribed interval, wrap the rope 4, tape, etc., holding the seedlings 3 into a cylindrical shape, form a seedling feeding unit, feed the seedling feeding unit to the seedling inserting machine and insert the seedlings while unwinding the rope 4, tape, etc., holding the seedlings 3 in a method for feeding the seedlings having properties of readily entwining such as a sweet potato to the seedling inserting machine.
