METHOD FOR FIXING OPTICAL COUPLING SYSTEM OF OPTICAL CIRCUIT PARTS

Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the method for fixing the optical coupling system of optical circuit parts which decreases the misalignment in the optical axis occurring in welding deformation and to decrease the coupling loss of the optical coupling system by using a type metal to form the optical axis supporting structural part of the optical coupling system. CONSTITUTION:A metallic cylinder 4, holding member 5 and substrate 6 constituting the optical axis supporting structural part of an optical fiber 1 consisting of a quartz fiber 2, a condenser lens 3 and the metallic cylinder 4 are formed by using the type metal and are fixed by welding at welding points 7. The type metal is small in the amt. of the welding deformation occurring in the volumetric shrinkage at the time of solidification and the shrinkage stress is absorbed by plastic deformation by which the welding deformation is substantially obviated. The quantity of the heat applied at the time of welding is small and the thermal shrinkage is small. The optical coupling system is, therefore, fixed by the method for welding these members formed by using the type metal, by which the welding deformation is decreased and the generation of the misalignment of the optical axis is substantially obviated.
