Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al alloy parts having high strength and high reliability with powder forging by covering surface of a performed body of Al alloy powder with strip state shield material, hot-forging, compacting and removing the above shield material after executing solution heat treatment.

CONSTITUTION: The Al alloy powder manufactured with atomizing method is cold-compacted at about 4 t/cm2 pressure to make the preform body. This preform body 1 is preheated at about 470°C in N2 atmosphere and charge into a heated die with lubricant atomize-coated. Then, at least one surface in the preform body 1 is covered with the strip metal shield material 2. Successively, the preform body 1 is compacted with the hot forging. Then, in the case of executing forward or backward extrusion-compacting with the forging with plastic flow, it is desirable to cover the surface orthogonally crossed to the pressurizing direction with the metal shield material having ductility of iron and steel, Al alloy, etc. After that, the above shield material 2 is mechanically removed after executing the solution heat treatment to the obtd. solidified body 3. By this method, the high strength Al alloy parts is obtd. without receiving any influence of the lubricant, etc.
