To provide a method of form-rolling a gear by which high-accuracy crowning shape is formed on a tooth surface while suppressing manufacturing cost low.
The method of form-rolling a gear is provided with a stage where a workpiece 15 including the outer peripheral surface 20a is prepared and a stage where the tooth form of a gear is form-rolled on the outer peripheral surface 20a with flat dies 51, 56. The flat dies 51, 56 include a form-rolling surface for forming the tooth surface of the gear on the outer peripheral surface 20a. The form-rolling surface is extended in parallel to the direction of a tooth trace. The width B2 of the form-rolling surface is larger than the width B1 of the outer peripheral surface 20a in the direction of the axis of rotation of the gear. The stage for form-rolling the tooth form of the gear includes the stage for forming the crowning shape on the tooth surface of the gear.
