PURPOSE: To easily obtain a coating film excellent in resistance to water and solvents, interlayer adhesiveness and appearance, suitable for e.g. repairing automobiles, by coating a specific base coat coating and by a specific clear coat coating thereon.

CONSTITUTION: This coating film can be obtained by coating a base coat coating consisting mainly of a resin prepared by incorporating metallic powder and a coloring pigment in a composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a carboxyl-contg. acrylic resin 20-200mgK0H/g in acid value and 10000-70000 in number-average molecular weight produced by copolymerization between 3-25-wt.% of a carboxyl-contg. monomer and 75-90wt.% of another copolymerizable vinyl monomer and 2-40 pts.wt. of a polylactone of the formula (R is an alkylene; l, m and n, are each natural number) 100-300 in number-average molecular weight, and then by coating thereon a clear coat coating consisting mainly of a curable resin composed of an acrylic polyol and a polyisocyanate.
