Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a composite consisting of metal as a base in a mold of investment material.

CONSTITUTION: The composite consisting of the metal as the base is molded and solidified to a desired shape from a preform mixture 10 consisting of a liquid fluid medium 12, a binder 16 and reinforcement material 14. The preform mixture is put into a vessel of the investment material and is heated to evaporate moisture and to remove the fluid medium. The remaining reinforcing material and binder are sintered, by which the solid preform is formed. Molten metal is arranged in the vessel in the upper part of the solid preform and is pressurized to forcibly feed the molten metal into the solid preform. The composite consisting of the metal as the base is formed by solidifying the molten metal and thereafter, the investment material is removed.
