To provide a method for forming an electrodeposition paint film, which is superior in coatability for a clearance part.

The method for forming the electrodeposition paint film includes an electrodeposition coating process comprising the steps of: immersing an article to be coated in a cationic electrodeposition paint composition and applying an electric current to the article; subsequently raising the article from the cationic electrodeposition paint composition at least once; and then immersing the article in the cationic electrodeposition paint composition and applying an electric current to the article again. The electrodeposition coating method imparts the film resistance value of 1,000 to 2,000 kcm2to the electrodeposition paint film having the thickness of 15 m, which has been obtained in the cationic electrodeposition paint composition.
