To simplify a method of forming a fine pattern, which is used to form a fine pattern on a workpiece material having a two-dimensional spreading shape such as a film, a foil, a sheet and a plate.
In the method, an auxiliary material 12 is used which is softer than the workpiece material 14 and has a two-dimensional spreading shape such as a film, a foil, a sheet and a plate. A die 30 is pressed on a laminated body 10 formed by superimposing the workpiece material 14 and the auxiliary material 12, and a fine pattern is formed on the material 14 by causing plastic deformation on the auxiliary material 12. The fine pattern is formed on the material 14 by superimposing the laminated body 10 on the die 30 and passing the superimposed body through between rolling rolls. After the formation of the fine pattern, the auxiliary material 12 is separated from the material 14.
