PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a stage for removing an exposure control mask and to easily obtain photographic prints of color characters and illustrations without adversely affecting a developer by thermally transferring a mask image onto the surface of unexposed photographic paper by a thermal transfer material provided with a dye material layer contg. a water-soluble resin and water-soluble dyestuff, then removing the mask image after exposing and developing.
CONSTITUTION: The rolled photographic paper P which is not exposed is set in a photographic paper supplying section 1 and is transported to a thermal transfer system 2. The image inform formed or edited by an image processing section 21 consisting of an image memory, image input section and character and image input section is thermally transferred to the photographic paper P via a ribbon 261 by a thermal transfer head 260 when this image information is transported to a thermal transfer system 2 by the control of a printing controller 25, by that, the mask image is formed. The transferred photographic paper P is transported to an exposing section 3 and is irradiated by an exposing lamp 31. The image of a negative film 33 is then printed to the photographic paper P by an optical system 32. Since the photographic print is formed by development processing, the mask image formed on the photographic paper is removed.
