To provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film, by which a coating film with high lightness, and less yellowish and thus excellent appearance can be formed for various industrial products such as the outer panels of automobile bodies.
The method for forming a coating film includes sequentially forming a white base coating film (A) having L* value of 80 or above based on the L*a*b* color system, a fluorescent base coating film (B) composed of an alkaline earth metal aluminate phosphor as a host crystal and one, two or more types of fluorescent white color pigment selected from among phosphors with europium, dysprosium, or neodymium as an activator agent, and a top clear coating film (C) on a base material, wherein the top clear coating film (C) has light transmittance of 50% or above at a wavelength of 380 nm and contains an ultraviolet absorbent.
