To provide a method of forming notches of spectacle lenses which can exactly and easily position the lenses and can constantly maintain quality.

A prepared demonstration lens 12A has the same notched part 36A as the notches 36 of the lens 12 to be fabricated and is formed to the shape and size approximately the same as those of the lens 12. The lens 12 and the demonstration lens 12A are respectively bored with a lens through-hole 38 and a demonstration lens through-hole 38A. The lens 12 and the demonstration lens 12A are superposed on each other. Positioning rods 68 and 70 are respectively inserted into the lens through-hole 38 and the demonstration lens through-hole 38A, by which the lens 12 is positioned. An exposed part 72 of the lens exposed to the inner side of the notch 36A of the lens of the positioned demonstration lens 12A is chipped along the notch 36A by an electric drill 80 or the like.
