Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form the end surfaces of a ferrule connector plug where the end part of another optical fiber is received to facilitate optical connection to the optical fiber of a plug terminal end.

CONSTITUTION: In the device of this invention, the optical fiber end surfaces which are respectively terminated by the connector plugs are ground. The device is provided with a platform 50 where the plug end surfaces are adjacently arranged to grinding surfaces and plural nests 52 for receiving the plugs so as to permit the optical fiber end parts projecting from the respective plugs to be engaged with the grinding surfaces are provided. The devices which can change so as to control pressure between the respective optical fiber end surfaces and the grinding surfaces and, when desired, between the respective plug end surfaces and the grinding surfaces and also which impress force on the respective plugs are provided in the respective nests 52. Relative movement is executed between the plural plugs and the grinding surfaces so as to provide the optical fiber end surfaces which are rotated around the shaft and uniformly ground while the grinding surfaces are rotated to be rotation possible.
