Abstract:
To provide a production method which can easily form a fine periodic structure from a nano region to a micrometer region on a fiber surface by laser irradiation, and prevents breakage and fusion of a fiber, and degeneration inside the fiber, and a fiber having a fine periodic structure on the surface.SOLUTION: A fine periodic structure is formed on a fiber surface by irradiating the surface of a fiber with ultrashort pulse laser while relatively moving the laser in a longer direction of the fiber. The periodic structure can be formed by surface wave interference and/or percussion processing. A pulse width of the ultrashort pulse laser is preferably 20 pico seconds or less and 100 femto seconds or more. Thereby, the periodic structure can be a periodic structure having a pitch of 100 micrometers or less and 100 nanometers or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
