To provide a form-rolling method by which a recessed part is clearly formed in a cylindrical base stock even if the recessed part has a shallow trapezoidal groove shape on the assumption that the cylindrical base stock is freely rotated.
As showing in Fig. (a), with respect to the stationary cylindrical base stock 46, a form-rolling die 40 is moved as shown by the arrow-mark (2) together with an output shaft 14. As a result, as showing in Fig. (b), projecting parts 44 of the form-rolling die 40 are bitten in the inner peripheral surface 47 of the cylindrical base stock 46. Then, the form-rolling die 40 is rotated and this rotation is stopped when the cylindrical base stock 46 makes one rotation. In such a way, working is completed by one rotation of the cylindrical base stock, and since the working is completed by one rotation, there is no possibility that the recessed part becomes out-of-shape. The recessed parts therefore can be formed with high dimensional accuracy on the assumption that the cylindrical base stock is freely rotated.
