PURPOSE: To prevent paint from catching fire due to static electricity when steel plate member and resin exterior panel are coated with paint on the same line by a method wherein electrically conductive paint, by which a formed resin exterior panel is covered, is electrically connected with the forming part, which locates on the rear surface of the formed resin exterior panel and consists of electrically conductive SMC, of the resin exterior panel.
CONSTITUTION: An electrically conductive SMC sheet 1B is placed onto the bottom force 3 of a mold so as to form a layer, which is continuous over the domain ranging from an outer peripheral part to a hinge mounting part. Further, non-electrically conductive SMC sheets 1A are placed on the sheet 1B. The resultant force 3 in closed with a top force 4 so as to be held under forming pressure for the prescribed period of time. After the release of the pressure of a press and the evacuation of the mold, electrically conductive paint is poured under high pressure from an inlet 5 locating at a tab 2. After the pouring, the forming pressure is raised and held for the predetermined period of time in order to harden the paint. Since the electrically conductive paint on the front and the electrically conductive SMC of the hinge mounting part on the rear of the formed engine hood are electrically connected with each other, by mounting the engine hood on a car body, charged static electricity is grounded through a hinge to the steel plate car body side. Accordingly, the intercoating process and finish coating process of steel plate member and of the resin exterior panel can be executed under the same painting conditions on the same line without the fear of the outbreak of fire.
