To provide a method for forming a saddle-shaped article, capable of retaining a saddle-like shape in the article.
In this method for forming the saddle-shaped article, a cloth-like material having an approximately elliptical shape is formed out of a nonstrechable material at first, and a tubular housing part is formed at the periphery of the cloth-like material. An opening is formed at an approximately central area of the cloth-like material. A crown with which the head of a user is covered is formed and attached to the periphery of the opening. A linear material of which the length is greater than the periphery of the cloth-like material is inserted into the receiving part, so that extending force which acts on the cloth-like material is developed by restoring force of the linear material. Shrinking force acts on the cloth-like material as reaction, because the cloth-like material has no stretchability. The linear material is twisted, bent, and deformed in a space of the housing part, while the linear material is further thrusted into the receiving part. The shrinking force in the major-axial direction is different from that in the minor-axial direction, because the cloth-like material is formed into the elliptical shape. Therefore, the cloth-like material is deformed in such a manner that the major axis and the minor axis are oppositely bent in the direction perpendicular to the face of the elliptical shape, so that the saddle-like shape is formed. Thus, a brimmed hat of which the brim is formed into the saddle-like shape is given by the method.
