PURPOSE: To improve retaining properties of woven fabric shape and enlarge strong distributing ratio of the second weft by successively inserting the second weft between each line of weft group and simultaneously forming conditions held by selvage.

CONSTITUTION: Rapier 15 for weft inserting the second weft yarn x into the yarn handling area is turned anticlockwise and recessed part 24 of rapier for selvage yarn P inserting the selvage yarn P into the guide hole 23a is crossed to recessed part 22 of the above-mentioned rapier 15. Thereafter, the rapier 23 for selvage yarn is raised and kept in the state inserting the tip of the above- mentioned rapier 15 into selvage yarn loop. Then tip loop of the second weft x is inserted into the above-mentioned selvage loop by descending the rapier 15 for selvage yarn and then turning and returning the rapier 15 for the above- mentioned weft until waiting position. Then the above-mentioned motion is repeated while successively moving and forming opening of warp and simultaneously descending the rapier 15 for selvage yarn and rapier 23 for selvage yarn every 1 pitch to form the selvage yarn.
