To provide a method for forming a stacked article capable of rapidly and certainly carrying out stacking of box-like bodies in no relation to the number of steps of the stacking.

The stacked body 5 is formed by stacking the box-like bodies 1 from a conveying line 10 by means of stacking means 20A, 20B. The stacking means 20A, 20B have a retaining device 30 and the box-like bodies 1 from the conveying line 10 are conveyed while guiding one side by a conveying guide part 38 of the retaining device 30. In the conveying state, the box-like bodies 1 are descended and stacked while it is guided by a descending guide part 40 by butting the descending guide part 40 of the retaining device 30 to the other side and leaving the conveying guide part 38. The box-like bodies are received while retaining them to a preferable attitude and can be descended at a preferable attitude by approaching/leaving the conveying guide part 38 and the descending guide part 40 at good timing. Thereby, the stacking can be rapidly and certainly carried out in no relation to the number of steps of the stacking.
