To provide a film formation method of a carbon material where the dispersibility of a carbon material in a solvent is improved, its adsorbability is made satisfactory, and also, thin film deposition is made possible.
A carbon material is dispersed into a hydrocarbon-based solvent mixed with a basic polymer type dispersant. With the material to be coated as the anode in the solvent, voltage is applied, so as to deposit a carbon material thin film on the surface of the anode material. At this time, in the case a carbon sheet is used as the anode material to be coated, or in the case the dispersion average grain size of carbon nanotubes as the carbon material dispersed into the hydrocarbon-based solvent mixed with the dispersant is set in 100 to 1,000 nm, both of the adsorption amount and the weight ratio of the carbon nanotubes in an adsorption layer can be effectively increased.
