PURPOSE: To gasify coal with high efficiency, by feeding coal particles having a particle diameter suitable for forming a fluidized bed directly to a gasification furnace, and spray feeding fine coal particles having a smaller particle diameter than the above-mentioned particles in a mixed slurry with heavy oil to the fluidized bed.
CONSTITUTION: Coal particles 6 having 0.42W1.0mm particle diameter are continuously fed from a nozzle 2 into a fluidized bed gasification furnace 1, and steam 8 and oxygen or air 9 as fluidizing gasification agents are fed respectively to the furnace 1. Fine coal particles having ≤0.42mm particle diameter in the form of a mixed slurry 7 with heavy oil are spray fed from a nozzle 3 into the fluidized bed 4. The slurry is brought into contact with fluidized particles in the fluidized bed 4 to decompose thermally the heavy oil. The fine coal particles stick to the fluidized particles by the resultant heavy oil coke to increase the diameter of the fine particles. Thus, the particles are in a difficultly scatterable state to form the aimed proper fluidized bed.
