Abstract:
To provide a method for generating hydrogen capable of generating a sufficient amount of hydrogen by decomposing various organic materials such as plastics and to provide a hydrogen generating catalyst therefor.
A method for generating hydrogen by decomposing organic compounds having hydrogen atoms in the existence of a catalyst, characterized in that the catalyst is a hydrogen generating catalyst containing gallium carried on porous silica having 1-30 nm of median pore size and the total volume of pores having pore size ranging in ±40% of the median pore size occupies 60% or more in the total pore volume, and in that said decomposition is carried out at 300-600°C and under inert atmosphere.
