Abstract:

PURPOSE: To appropriately and easily form an annular groove to make a lock ring on the joint side or the like bitten at the prescribed position separated from the tube end of a tube in the axial direction by the prescribed space without any transverse deviation, and to make the groove depth constant.
CONSTITUTION: In forming an annular groove 6 through the relative rotation with a tube 2 by pressing a grooving roller 19 in the radial direction against the part separated by the prescribed space a1 in the axial direction from the tube end 2a to the outer circumferential surface of the positioned tube 2, a diameter contracting roller 17 opposite to the tube end 2a on the same axis as that of the grooving roller 19 is pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the tube 2 before the pressing of the grooving roller 19 against the tube 2 to form a diameter-contracting groove 31. The marking line 32 is made in an abutted condition on the outer circumferential surface of the tube 2 when the annular groove of the prescribed depth is formed in this grooving operation.
