To provide a method for growing organisms by the sterilization and activation of the growth water with a vibration stirrer.

The vibration stirrer to be used in the method is provided with (1) a vibration generating means, (2) a vibration member driven by the vibration generating means, (3) at least one vibration rod vibrating in connection with the vibration member and (4) at least one vibration blade fixed to the vibration rod. The vibration stirrer is placed in contact with a treating tank storing water for growth. The water is sterilized and activated by subjecting the water in the tank to vibration and flow and organisms are grown by using the water. The vibration blade is subjected to sterilizing surface treatment or photocatalytic surface treatment or a fixed plate is subjected to sterilizing surface treatment or photocatalytic surface treatment. The effect is further improved by using a ferromagnetic material as the vibration blade.
