Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of heating a metallic material in an industrial furnace, capable of facilitating uniform heating over an entire width of a preheated metallic product and eventually ensuring low cost and less complication.SOLUTION: Oxidant for which a combustion lambda value, that is, a ratio of an actual air-fuel ratio to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio is less than 1 in at least one of at least one heating zones 202 and 203, and that contains at least 85 mass% of oxygen is supplied into a dark zone 201 via at least one lance 212, whereby at least one flow 213 of the oxidant is directed toward a metallic material 206 and the oxidant in the dark zone 201 burns combustible gas generated from the at least one heating zones 202 and 203.
