To provide a method for helically crimping fibers.

This method for helically crimping the fibers which can spontaneously transport certain fluid, e.g. an aqueous fluid such as water on the surface is provided. The fibers especially in the form of a tow can be incorporated into absorbent articles, such as a diaper in order to transport the fluid to more effectively utilize the absorbent portion of the article. The fiber can be synthetically coated with an absorbent material.
