Abstract:
To provide a method for highly purifying a ferritic stainless steel so as to make non-metallic inclusions produced in a smelting step not to give a harmful effect to the surface quality and material properties.
This method includes adjusting the total content of Ca and REM (rare earth elements) in molten steel to 0.0001 to 0.0010 mass%, in the step of smelting the ferritic stainless steel containing 9-35 mass% Cr.
