This method for holding the band saw blade 5 is performed by the band saw blade guide device 1. When a body part of the band saw blade 5 is held by the fixed insert block 9 and the movable insert block 15 provided in the band saw blade guide device 1, friction between the fixed insert block 9, the movable insert block 15 and the band saw blade 5 is suppressed, the movable insert block 15 is moved to the fixed insert block 9 side by pressing force set in advance to suppress inclination of the band saw blade 5 in the gap between the fixed insert block 9 and the movable insert block 15, and the band saw blade 5 is held by the fixed insert block 9 and the movable insert block 15. Subsequently, the movable insert block 15 is fixed in an immovable state.
