PURPOSE: To relax the restrictions with respect to capacity, time and layout on a manufacturing apparatus and a working apparatus for solidified metals, at the time of holding a semisolidified metal and thereafter feeding it to a working apparatus, by executing the holding in such a manner that the growth of a solid phase in the process of the holding is extremely suppressed.
CONSTITUTION: In a semisolidified metal obtd. by stirring a metal in the process of solidifying and refining its crystalline grains, the enlargening of the crystalline grains progresses in the process of holding in a semisolidified state. Therefore, as for temporal passage for the accumulation of the unit quantity to be fed to a working apparatus in a holding container and for its movement into the working apparatus, without holding the semisolidified metal manufactured and discharged from a semisolidified metal manufacturing apparatus in the holding container as it is, the semisolidified metal is temporarily cooled and is held at an increased solid phase rate, and, on the other hand, the semisolidified metal is heated to raise the temp. immediately before it is fed to the working apparatus, by which the above enlarging of the crystalline grains can be suppressed, and, without remarkably impairing a refining effect on the crystalline grains, the feed to a working apparatus having a wide difference in capacity with a manufacturing apparatus and the feed to a distant working apparatus can be attained.
